The Jerusalem Tower of David citadel is an ancient symbol of the old city of Jerusalem. This citadel is located at the Jaffa gate and was built originally during King David’s reign over the region to protect one of the most vulnerable entrances of the city: the one that pointed west and the European empires.
This is not the original David Tower, since it was destroyed several times during different conquests of the city during the ages. But every conqueror decided to reconstruct the tower after each invasion and leave there part of his heritage. The area contains interesting archaeological findings from more than 2700 years of history.
